David Gordon,
“a richly gifted player with a sparkling style and boundless imagination”
Phil Johnson, INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY, is jazz pianist, harpsichordist and
composer. In jazz, his sideman activities include saxophonist Theo Travis
and violinist Chris Garrick’s quartets, and he also performs with singer
Jacqui Dankworth. He has had several compositions broadcast on BBC Radio 3,
plays harpsichord with Nigel Kennedy, the English Concert and in a duo with
violinist Andrew Manze, and leads the innovative early music/jazz group
Respectable Groove. He is also joint musical director of the gypsy tango
group Zum.
Ole Rasmussen,
is one of the strong bass players out of his native Denmark. His big sound and
swinging bass lines, together with his astounding abilities as soloist make
him a dream bass player for audiences and musicians alike. A former student
of the great Niels H. Ø. Pedersen, he was in the trio of award-winning
Swedish saxophonist Peter Gullin and has also played with the Duke Ellington
Band.
Paul Cavaciuti,
found he was too groovy for the UK and studied at the Berklee College of
Music in Boston, USA. With Spirit Level, Alison Bentley and Steve Williamson amongst the
musicians he has worked with, he is one of the most thoughtful and
knowledgeable drummers anywhere, his sense of fun and crisp and driving
rhythm make his playing irresistible. He is shortly to become one of the few
drummers with an MA in musicology. |
